Add a Product

In order to display products on your site, you should add them to the Product Manager. Below are the basic isntructions for adding products. Further down, you will find more detailed instructions describing the more advanced options available when adding products.

Basic Instructions:

  1. Click the Product Manager button on the right
  2. Click the Add a Product tab at the top of the page
  3. Enter the name of your product.
  4. Assign your product to at least one Product Category
  5. Enter the the price for your product (Your Price)
  6. If this product requires shipping, select the shipping type (entered previously, see Shipping Manager) and the shipping value (see Shipping Manager)
  7. Chose whether or not your product should be taxed
  8. Choose an image file (JPG only) to upload
  9. enter the description
  10. Click the Add Product button at the bottom of the page

Your product is now added, and can be made available for sale on your website.

Detailed Instructions:

Some users will need to use more advanced options in the Add a Product page. Below are detailed descriptions for each fielad on this page.

  • Type of Product: If you have the Addon Module or the Registration Module installed, you will need to specify the type of record you are currently entering. If you set the current record as an addon, it will only be available after someone purchases products for which this is an addon.
  • Product Name: This is the name of your product as it will appear on your website.
  • Custom Product ID: If you have an internal coding or id system for your products, you should enter that code here. This code will be included in the notification you receive when someone purchase this product.
  • External/Remote Product ID: Some users may have an external system for linking to their products or adding products to their website's shopping cart. If you plan to use such a system, enter that code here. Please contact our AccelSite support team to ensure that your system is set up correctly to allow this kind of transaction.
  • How Many In Stock: Currently AccelSite does not track the actual quantity in stock, since most often these numbers are tracked using a different system. So this field should be set manually to either 1 or 0 (in stock or out of stock). If this is set to 0, the product will be displayed, but will not have the option to purchase it, and will display an "Out of Stock" message
  • Product Category: You must assign each product to at least one Category. You are allowed to assign each product to up to 6 categories.
  • Allow Visitor To Specify Price: If you woudl like your visitors to specify their own price for an item, you should indicate that here. This is appropriate for donations, sliding scale, or for payment of 3rd party invoices or charges.
  • Suggested Retail: Set this price to 0 or empty if you do not wnat it to appear. If it is set to greater than zero, it will by default appear croosed out in the product description.
  • Your Price: This is the actual price that will be charged for your product.
  • Quantity Discount Category: If you have created discount categories (see Discount Manager), you can specify the discount category for this product here.
  • Type of Shipping: If you will be shipping this product, you can specify the category of shipping that should be used when calculating the shipping charges. You will need to configure your shipping options before adding products (see Shipping Manager).
  • Shipping Value: The shipping value is used along with the Shipping Category to calculate the shipping that should be charged for this product. This might be based on weight, size etc. depending on the configuration you have used when setting up your shipping options.
  • Insure Shipment?: Indicates whether the system should include insurance pricing when calculating the shipping for this product. The insurance rates should be configured in the Shipping Manager.
  • Taxable Item?: Indicates whether tax should be charged for this product.
  • Media for this Produc: If the Media Manager is activated for your account, you will be able to associate a media file with your product. You can either choose an existing media file from your Media Manager, or upload a new Media File on the fly.
  • Resource Association: If you have the Resource Module activated for your account, you can associated your product with an existing Resource. This allows AccelSite to display the product in the page for that Resource listing. Some additional configuration may be required to display the records correctly on your site.   • Photo Upload: You can upload a photo for each product in your store. If your account has Multi-Image functionality activated, you can upload multiple images for each product.
  • Description: The description that will be displayed for the product.
  • Types of Attributes: Attributes (also called Properties) should be configured before using this feature. This list might include things such as "Size", "Color", "Material", etc. Here, you are assigning which of these Properties will need to be configured for this product.
  • Download URL: This is an advanced option that must be custom configured. Please contact our AccelSite support team if you are interested in learning more about this feature.
  • Download Label: This is an advanced option that must be custom configured. Please contact our AccelSite support team if you are interested in learning more about this feature.
  • Make Active: Check the box to activate the product. Un-check the box to de-activate it. In-active products will be ommited from display on your site, but will still be available in your Administrative Interface.
  • Make Available to Affiliates Only:  This is an advanced option that must be custom configured. Please contact our AccelSite support team if you are interested in learning more about this feature.
  • Affiliate Tracking Code:  This is an advanced option that must be custom configured. Please contact our AccelSite support team if you are interested in learning more about this feature.
  • Select Add-on Products: If you have the Addon Module installed, you can select "Addon" products, that will be available for purchase after this product has been added to a visitor's cart. If the addon product will be discounted when purchased along with this product, you can specify the type and size of the discount here.
